HOW TO JOIN OR RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP

MEMBERSHIP

Membership at OHGC is open to all persons without regard to race, religion, gender or national origin. Requirements for joining are:
1 – You must be a citizen, legal alien, or resident of the United States, above the age of 18 and legally able to possess a firearm.
2 – Print out an application form and mail it and a check for $20 to the address noted on the application form.

BACKGROUND

OHGC is open to enthusiasts of all types of firearms. The club was organized in 1978 to provide shooting range facilities for its members & their guests. For 30 years, the Club leased and operated a range for its members located on Owl Hollow Road. In 2008, the landowner notified the Club the lease would not be renewed and would expire on December 31, 2008. At our October 2008 members meeting, members voted unanimously to keep the Club active to create a new and improved firearms range for middle-TN residents.

The Club needs to have a majority of OHGC members renew their memberships for the Club to have a chance to succeed. New members, as always, are also welcome to join.

TOP PRIORITY FOR 2009 – Given the uncertain future of the existing range, our priority next year is clear: provide a new and improved range at a desirable location for Club members. Next year, OHGC dues for new or renewing members will be reduced to $20 to reflect our changed mission. We ask that you support the Club by joining or renewing your membership for these reasons:

1 – Your support will provide funds to conduct a comprehensive, professional search for a new range. Our goal is to develop a facility which exceeds the capabilities of our previous range. If successful, half of your 2009 dues payment will be applied toward future initiation fees or dues payments.

2 – Your support will enable the Club to approach a bank or lending institution with a business plan which includes the membership count. The more members we retain into 2009, the stronger our case will be to obtain the funds necessary to create an improved facility.

3 – If we are not successful in achieving our goal and if 2009’s members vote to dissolve the Club, TN statutes dictate that the Club’s financial assets will be divided among the members who are enrolled at that time. If that occurs it is likely, but not guaranteed, that 2009’s members would receive a dissolution payment which exceeds their $20 dues payment.

MEMBERHIP BENEFITS – In addition to supporting a new and improved range, 2009’s members will:

* provide input into the new range design,

* have the opportunity to serve on subcommittees to further our common cause,

* have access to the ‘members only’ section of the Club’s website,

* receive updates: via email, on the ‘members only’ section of the website, and at quarterly meetings,

* participate in Club-sponsored functions if we have enough interest and support,

* join or renew your NRA membership at a reduced rate, saving $10, and

* shoot at an indoor range at reduced fees if we are successful in negotiating a favorable package.

We need your support to achieve our goal of creating a member-owned, first class shooting facility to meet the needs of Middle-Tennessee’s current and future generations of firearms enthusiasts. Please support the Club by renewing your membership at the reduced fee of $20. You can’t lose – if we are successful, we will all enjoy an enhanced shooting facility for many years. If we are unsuccessful, you will likely recoup more than your $20 investment (although not guaranteed).
